Beijing Olymics 2008

In 2008 the Olympics  games where held in the wonderful city of Beijing.
Many people from round the world came to Beijing to either participate or watch the many hundreds competing for a one and only gold medal .

why in Beijing?
Beijing was awarded the chance to host the olyimic  games on 13th of July 2001 and won most of the votes to have it take place there.

Medals
There were 43 new world records and 132 new Olympic records set at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
An unprecedented 86 countries won at least one medal during the Games.




Events
During the Games many events where held like: archery, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, cycling, diving, fencing, field hockey, gymnastics, judo, mountain biking, rowing, sailing, shooting, soccer, softball, swimming, synchronized swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting and wrestling.

The north east is a very popular place to be in with many big towns and attractions.


Here is an example of some of the towns :Newcastle, Durham , Northumbria and Anwick.

In these places there are many big attractions such as: Angel of the North, Hadrians wall, bamburgh castle, Beamish musuem ,Anwick gardens, Durham Cathedral , The baltic, The sage Gateshead And all the lovely Bridges and attractions over the tyne .

This is the tyne tunnel the tunnel under the river tyne that gets you from North Sheilds to South Shields.

-Big city attractions

China is in Eastern Asia and is a very big country with many cities and attractions in it .

China  is surrounded by many countrys such as up north there is russia and mongolia to the east there is north and south korea also to the south east of china there is the east and south china sea. to the south of china there is contries like myanmar , loas and vietnam and to the west of china there is kazakhstan , kirgizstan, nepal and india .

And in the middle of all these contries there is china with many cities inside such as beijing and shanghai .
